Early Cancer Detection

A Blood Test For Cancer

Lakeshore Concierge Medicine is pleased to offer the Galleri blood test for early cancer detection.

Why Early Detection Matters

Cancer is most treatable when detected early. Despite this, only five cancers have recommended routine screenings. Many others remain undetected until symptoms develop—often at an advanced stage. Early detection improves survival, reduces treatment burden, and preserves quality of life.

The Gap in Traditional Screening

More than 70% of cancer-related deaths come from cancers without recommended screenings. Cancers such as pancreatic, ovarian, liver, and many blood cancers often grow undetected until they are already advanced.

A New Option: The Galleri® Test

The Galleri multi-cancer early detection test uses a simple blood draw to look for signals shared across more than 50 cancer types. It does not replace traditional screenings but expands your ability to detect cancers that otherwise may go unnoticed.

How the Galleri Test Works

The test analyzes DNA in your bloodstream for patterns that may indicate cancer. If a signal is detected, Galleri can often identify where the signal originates, guiding next steps in evaluation.

Who May Benefit?

This test may be appropriate for adults over 50 or individuals with increased risk based on family history or other factors. It is not intended for diagnosing active symptoms but offers a proactive approach to health monitoring.

How can I obtain this test through Lakeshore Concierge Medicine?

As a member of Lakeshore Concierge Medicine, if you are interested in obtaining this test, speak to us about it at one of your office visits and we can explain the test further.

What is the Galleri test?

The Galleri test is a multi-cancer early detection blood test that looks for shared cancer signals across more than 50 cancer types. It is designed to complement—not replace—traditional screenings.

Does the Galleri test diagnose cancer?

No. Galleri does not diagnose cancer. If a signal is detected, additional diagnostic evaluation such as imaging or labs is required.

Who should consider taking the test?

The test may be appropriate for adults over 50 or those with elevated cancer risk. It is not meant for people experiencing active cancer symptoms.

Is the test covered by insurance?

Coverage varies. Many insurance plans do not yet cover multi-cancer early detection tests. Patients may pay out of pocket depending on their plan.

How accurate is the test?

The test has demonstrated high specificity and can identify the tissue of origin with strong accuracy when a cancer signal is detected. Your physician can help interpret results.

What is the investment?

The cost of the blood test is approximately $750 and is recommended annually or biennially.
