DR. REXFORD
PERSONAL
I (Dr Rexford) am a lifetime resident of the beautiful West Michigan community. Born and raised right here in West Michigan, I hold two undergraduate degrees from West Michigan institutions – one from Calvin University (Biology/Chemistry) and the other from Cornerstone University (Psychology/Greek). After completing my medical degree at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, I returned to the lakeshore where I have practiced medicine for over 25 years.
Outside the office, I enjoy my wife of over 30 years and my great children and grandchild! I am significantly involved in my local church and have been teaching a home Bible study for many years. I’m also an avid paddle boarder, bicyclist, boater, and enjoy reading. You may have seen me paddle boarding along the Lake Michigan shoreline or on Mona Lake during those windy days. And on the coldest days of winter when the lake conditions won't allow me to get out, you’ll probably find me working out on the elliptical.
DR. REXFORD
PROFESSIONAL
I’m a board-certified and experienced Family Physician who has been in the practice of medicine in Muskegon and Ottawa counties since 1992. My family practice specialty training was completed through Spectrum (Corewell) Health and Saint Mary’s (Trinity) Hospitals in Grand Rapids. I chose the primary care specialty because I want to develop longstanding personal relationships with my patients. I’m interested not only in your physical health and disease prevention, but also your mental and spiritual health. My patients are not only customers and clients – many have become friends and a variation of an extended family as well.
I have quite a broad spectrum of practice which has transformed as my practice has matured. At this phase of my profession, I enjoy caring predominantly for the internal-medicine patient type (although I continue to enjoy younger patients as well). I am also proficient in a number of office-based procedural skills. I enjoy proactive well-care, along with managing patients with multiple medical diagnoses and treating office-surgical conditions. Since I have proficiency in a multitude of medical and procedural skills, I can many times manage conditions in the office without the need for referral.
I hold privileges with both Trinity Health Mercy Hospital and Trinity Health Grand Haven (North Ottawa Community Hospital). You may have met me in the hospital outpatient department when I performed a colon cancer screening colonoscopy for you or someone you know.
